Pet Sitting and Keys

For years I've been getting only one key from my clients and I keep them locked when not in use. I finally realized there is always the possibility that I might loose a key. What a disaster that would be. So I recommend that all pet sitters have two keys. I'm sure that clients will understand when you explain that you're getting an extra key because you care about their pets.

As the old saying goes, "You can never be too careful".

  1. I actually was on a pet sitter call recently and we discussed renting out those key boxes that real estate agents use as another way to have a key available, especially in case of an emergency. I'm thinking of investing ion a few of them and trying them out. I have one client who already has one and we use it all of the time. It works great!

  2. That's a good idea. I'll have to check into the cost. I don't have many dogs for recurring walks but I have numerous clients that I pet sit for. I need to check and see if it's cost effective.
